Raising awareness and advancing conditions for care for people living with severe epilepsy and intellectual disability.
ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

Eir Nordic is a Nordic collaboration that brings
together people and organisations providing care
and support for people living with epilepsy and
intellectual disability.

Our mission is to improve knowledge levels, share
stories of good care and elevate successful, local
initiatives to regional best practice.

We do this by recognizing those who go above and
beyond to care in two categories – individual Role
models and systemic Change-makers.
People living with epilepsy and intellectual
disabilities are an underserved population
that deserves better care.

According to Norse Mythology, Eir is the goddess of healing.
Eir directly translates into mercy, protection and support.
CATEGORIES OF RECOGNITION
We welcomed submissions for activities by the individuals themselves or by someone else on their behalf, and we recognize excellence of care in two categories:
ROLE MODELS
CHANGE-MAKERS

individuals who defy expectations
and with empathy and determination
bring health and hope to this
underserved population. This can
be a family member, a primary carer,
a physician or any other person
involved in the continuum of care.

systemic and scalable change efforts
designed to improve quality of life
for this group of patients. Activities
can range from raising awareness to
improving diagnosis, ensuring equal
access to healthcare, managing the
disease of improving conditions for
patients, and can come from public
or private sector.
A panel representing Nordic epilepsy patient associations and clinical expertise is assessing all submissions using four criteria:
Relevance to the cause
Commitment and passion
Demonstrated positive change
Scalability

Submissions were accepted until 14.05.2025
